It's Classy!

003_WardsvillePark We went to a friend's birthday party this afternoon at a park.  It was a lot of fun.  Joshua needed to go to the bathroom so Keith took him.  The bathroom was on the other side of an enclosed pavilion.  As they were walking by this building, Joshua looked inside and exclaimed, "Ooh, that's classy!" I'm not sure if it was the fact that he used the word "classy" at all, or that he used it to describe the pavilion, but it was hilarious!  I'm so sorry to you, future daughter-in-law.  We tried our best, but in the end, I suppose it is "classy" to a 6 year old with very frugal parents!

(Picture is of a similar looking, but in better shape, pavilion!)

It's All Relative

einstein The kids were pretending to be scientists today and calling themselves Dr. Einstein, Professor Einstein, and Baby Einstein.  I asked them if they knew who Einstein was and they knew that he was a scientist.  This started us on a quest to find out some more information.  We discovered a nice article for kids about Einstein and the theory of relativity.  Joshua really elev8rseemed to latch onto the example of an infinitely tall building in which you are in the elevator  falling.  It doesn't feel like you are falling at all, but if people saw you from the outside, they would see you falling.  If you saw them, they would look like they are flying up.  It seemed like things were really clicking with the boys and how it all depends on perspective.  Brian then stated, "It's like when stuffed animals come to life."  Oh well.  I guess that is one perspective.

Super Brian!!!

This afternoon the kiddos and hubby were having a great time doing silly things to make Lucas laugh. There was a lot of laughter, then BANG. Brian starts crying a little, then Joshua yells, "There's a lot of blood!" A few towels, a doctor call, an ER visit, 4 1/2 hours and an orange Popsicle later, everything is fine. Brian will be sporting 6 stitches for the next 4-7 days. He is very proud of how brave he was. He stated, "They only give Popsicles to brave kids, don't they?" I replied, "You're exactly right!" I think he fared better than I did. Brian wanted to tell everyone, "I was a very brave boy. I hope you all have a safe time. Bye!"

Braving the cold, enjoying the temperate...soccer.

Joshua and Brian were able to be part of their first organized sport this spring. Soccer started out with a bang and the first practice was in winter coats, gloves, and hats. The boys tolerated it well though and by the end had some wonderful weather. When asked what they learned this spring, Joshua answered, "You don't' kick with your toes, you kick with the side of your foot." Brian said, "You kick the bottom of the ball to make it go way up in the air!" That was his favorite move! They are looking forward to the fall soccer season.
